🪶 Breed Description
White Leghorn chicks are pale yellow or creamy white at hatch, with single combs and clean, yellow legs and feet. As adults, they display pure white plumage and are known for their exceptional egg production of large, white eggs.
Originating in Italy prior to 1815, Leghorns were brought to North America in 1828, where they were initially called Italians. Over time, most of the modern color varieties were refined in Great Britain, America, and Denmark.
These birds are alert, energetic, and hardy, thriving in warm climates while maintaining strong laying performance year-round — making them one of the world’s most popular egg-laying breeds.
